Improve Your Chances of Getting Your UK Visit Visa Approved the First Time Round with These Tips!

Truth be told, you can never be 100 percent sure that you’ll get your visit visa approved the first time around. You could be as prepared as the best of them. Yet, due to ever-changing rules, you can never be sure what the Home Office might require of you.

However, even with this dark cloud hanging over you, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a silver lining.

Because we’ve handled so many cases where visit visa applications get refused, we have a long list of don’ts regarding first-time visit visa applications, which you can benefit from.

Tips on Applying for a Visit Visa

§ Know Your Requirements

Even if it’s common knowledge, there’s still plenty that we miss out on when applying for a visa, and that’s when disaster strikes. Below is a long list of requirements that you absolutely must follow:

  • Have a valid passport that will not expire in the next 6 months.
  • When compiling documents, make sure they’re authentic, current and legitimate. Fake or doctored documents will be caught and you will be banned from entering the UK.
  • Follow the rule book. If the embassy asks you to use a specific type of envelope, to paste the picture, not staple it, to use a specific ink, do it and show that you’re following their guidelines to the letter.
  • Show as much evidence as you can, but don’t go overboard. The Home Office does not need to know about your school grades.
  • Show that you’ve traveled. While passport stamps will do the job, you can add booking details and travel tickets to show that you’ve never overstayed your welcome.

§ Show Your Reason for Coming Back

The Home Office is very strict about this. You have to show that you will be going back to your country at the end of your stay and you will not overstay. If you’re an employed person, do so by showing a letter from your employer, stating that you are required to come back because of work responsibilities. Attach your payslips, bank statements—any document that shows that you have a life back home and you will need to get back to it.

For self-employed people, show your business registration, proof of any real estate, any meetings or affairs that’ll require your return. For unemployed people, show proof that you have personal property, a job offer, perhaps a certificate from your school or college so that you have strong ties back home.

§ Show Purpose for Visit

It must be strong, reasonable and true. Yes, you can visit family just because. But attaching a letter explaining your complete itinerary, where else you plan to visit, where you’ll stay, who you’ll go with—showing them all the nuts and bolts of your plan will essentially give them something they can keep an eye on.
