Financial Requirements for Tier 2 Visa
If you’re applying for the Tier 2 visa, there are some things you might want to know.
First, it’s a coveted opportunity, since applying for a Tier 2 visa means that a company in the UK primarily wants your services for their organization. So that’s a compliment in itself.
However, with the Tier 2 visa, you might have your work cut out for you if you don’t know the basics of it.
The Basics of the Tier 2 Visa
The Tier 2 Visa allows skilled workers to come to the UK. This skilled worker term entails that you may be employed in different fields of work including IT, teaching, accounting and healthcare, mainly any field that is in the Tier 2 occupation list, which is also called the ‘Codes of Practice for Skilled Workers’.
To apply for this visa, you will need to show basic documentation such as proof that you are proficient in the English language and that you have travelled in the last 5 years. You will also need to take a tuberculosis test, and provide a criminal record certificate from the country you’ve been living in if you will be working with any vulnerable people.
In addition, you’ll need to show a valid certificate from your workplace that they are sponsoring you. But alongside all this, you’ll have to satisfy some financial requirements for Home Office as well, which are listed below:
Appropriate Salary
While there are some circumstances in which you could be paid low as well — for example, if you are a midwife, a pre-registration nurse, a secondary school teacher, a nurse, a medical radiographer or a paramedic — you will need to show a substantial sum in your account.
Typically, the amount you should be paid should be at least £30,000 per year, although that may differ in accordance with your career. For proper information on the appropriate rate, you can check the government website.
Personal Savings
In addition, you will also need to prove that you can support yourself. You will need to show £945 in your bank for at least 90 days before applying for a visa.
However, if you have a full-approved sponsor, you will not be required to show any such amount. Your sponsor will need to show their certificate of sponsorship though.
