Child Custody What You Need To Know?

Child custody rights are some of the important things to take into account before getting a divorce.

Child custody is a legal term which is used to describe the legal relationship between the parent and the children.

It allows the person, who is legally allowed to take care of the children, to make decisions regarding their upbringing.

Usually, children spend all or most of their time with their parent who has the custody.

A parent who does not have the custody usually has the right to visit his or her children or ask about them.

TYPES OF CHILD CUSTODY

  1. Physical Custody

Children spend most of their time with the parent who has the physical custody.

Physical custody allows the custodial parent to live with his/her children.

The other non-custodial parent gets the right of visitation to spend some time with the children.

2.LEGAL CUSTODY

Legal custody means that the parent has the right to make major decisions for the children.

Be it schooling, medical care and religious upbringing, the custodial parent can make a decision that deem right for them.

3.SOLE CUSTODY

Sole custody involves the sole physical custody and sole legal custody.

This is awarded to one parent when the other is completely unfit to stay with the children.

Sole custody keeps the alcoholic and abusive parent from the children.

4.JOINT CUSTODY

Joint custody, also known as shared custody, is awarded to both parents who will have to share their responsibilities after they are divorced or separated.
