The Revised UK Immigration Visa Fees for 2018!

Back in April 2016, the UK government announced changes in the immigration fees. Naturally, these changes are expected to impact people planning to immigrate to the UK in the near future.

Here’s what you need to know about the changes in UK immigration visa fee for 2018:

The Increase in Prices

The fees has been increased, but not to a worryingly extent.

One area where the rates have increased significantly though is in the visa applications from abroad for settlement in the United Kingdom. The rates have increased by £56.

In addition to that, there has also been an increase in the rates of visa applications of people, who in the past were members of the armed forces, and have now applied for indefinite leaves.  In this case, the prices have increased by £92.

However, these are the only areas where the fees have increased. In all other cases, the increase in the fees has been less than £100.

Decreases in Fees

There are only a few areas in which the fee has been reduced.  One of them is the fee for settlement for a refugee’s dependent relatives. In this case, the fee has been decreased by £35.

Health Surcharge

Before the government announced the changes in the fees, health surcharge was around £200. However, its fee has now increased to £400 for migrants. In addition to that, the health surcharge fee for students has also increased from £150 to £300.

The increases in price will subsequently lead to an increase in the cost of visa applications especially for people who wish to stay in the UK for more than six months.

The changes have not been applied yet therefore, people planning to apply for immigration should do it right now.

Impact of the Revised Fees

It is expected that the changes in the fees of health surcharge will boost the income of NHS by £220 million. It is also expected that the changes in the prices will reduce the number of people who plan to settle in the United Kingdom.
