Everything You Need To Know About The UK Post-Study Work Visa

We all know that the UK has a reputation for excellent research. Its educational qualifications are recognized and appreciated by employers worldwide. Students don’t only get access to top-notch learning material but also find opportunities to develop their skills and connections. The UK is known for its diversity and multicultural society; this exposure to new cultures also allows students to gain a broad and sophisticated perspective. If you’re looking to study in the UK, we’ve got great news for you

The new UK Post-Study Work Visa policy can help you build a career in the UK. Here’s everything you need to know:

What is the UK Post-Study Work Visa?

This new policy for international students allows them to stay in the country after graduating to find a job. This visa lasts for up to 2 years, within which students must find work. This rule is only applicable for students who enrolled in universities after autumn 2020. During these two years, you can earn a living in the country. The UK post-study visa aims to bridge the gap between a student visa and a work visa.

How Do You Know Whether You’re Eligible For This Visa

You need to be an international student who’s enrolled in a UK institution from September 2020 and holds a Tier 4 visa. Let’s say you’re doing your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree; instead of four months (previous policy), you can now stay back for two whole years to find a job and work in the country. If you’ve completed your Ph.D., you can stay for three years instead of two!

Does Your University Need to Sponsor Your Application For this Visa?

No, you won’t require any sponsorship to apply for this visa.

Will There Be Any Working Restrictions?

If you apply for the graduate route, i.e., after completing your Master’s or Ph.D., there is no minimum salary level. You can apply or work for relevant companies to your degree or branch out to other positions to strengthen your CV.

What Should You Do After The Post-Study Work period?

For the two years after you graduate, you can work any job you find fit. However, upon completion of the period, you will have to apply for a work visa. This Tier 2 visa has specific job criteria, such as earning a minimum of £30,000 per year.
