Understanding Tier 2 (General) Visa Changes
If you are offered a skilled job from an employer in the UK, you need to apply for a Tier 2 (General Visa). In addition to employment, Tier 2 visa applicants must have a valid sponsorship license to live in the UK.
The eligibility requirements for Tier 2 General Visa include the following:
- Applicants must reside outside of the European Economic Area and Switzerland
- Applicants must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
- Applicants must have sufficient income to cover their expenses in the UK
- Applicants must have some travel history in the last 5 years
- Applicants must provide evidence that they will be paid an appropriate amount of salary by their employer in the UK
Tier 2 (General) Visa: Changes You Should Know About
Effective July 6, 2018, several changes have been made to UK immigration rules, which includes the Tier 2 (General) category as well. Knowing these changes is imperative before you file your visa application:
- Nurses and doctors are exempted from the visa category. In other words, healthcare organizations in the UK can sponsor doctors and nurses without requiring certificates of sponsorship.
- With regard to Tier 2 migrants with over 10 percent of shares in their sponsors, the limit now includes both direct and indirect shares.
- Last but not least, changes have also been made to the evidential requirements for Tier 2 holders applying for UK settlement in the UK. This includes the applicants who missed work on account of maternity, paternity, adoption, or shared parental leave. It is now mandatory for them to provide documents as evidence of their birth or adoption.
Apply for a Tier 2 (General) Visa
If you want to apply for the Tier 2 visa, prepare your application form in advance. Make sure all your documents are also ready. Documents include a valid passport, bank statement, English language test results, Tuberculosis test results (if you belong to a country where taking the test is mandatory), and more.
