Our immigration solicitors review your completed UK spouse or partner visa application and documents before you submit it to UKVI, to avoid costly mistakes.
The application review costs a fixed fee of £600 + VAT and helps identify potential errors or missing evidence, improving your chances of a successful outcome.
We test your £29,000 income, English test, accommodation and relationship evidence against Appendix FM, so a missing payslip doesn't cost you the £2,064 Home Office fee.
- Entry clearance, FLR(M) extensions and in-country switches checked
- £29,000 financial requirement tested across every income source you rely on
- Fixed £600 + VAT one-off fee; completed in 1-3 working days, or same-day depending on complexity
- Online and remote, or in person at our Wembley office
Before submitting your application to UKVI, call Wembley Solicitors on 020 3417 3700 for professional guidance on your completed forms and supporting documents.

What do you check on a spouse visa application?
A solicitor reviews your draft online form and every supporting document, then advises you on each error, gap and risk before you submit.
- Form answers checked against passports, payslips, addresses and dates
- Financial category identified (A, B, D, E, F or G) and evidence tested against it
- English test checked for level, approved provider and validity
- Accommodation evidence checked for adequacy and overcrowding
- Relationship evidence checked for genuineness and consistency
- Immigration history, past refusals and suitability risks flagged
Which spouse visa documents do you check?
We check the full bundle for your financial category plus identity, English, accommodation and relationship evidence.
- Passports, previous UK visas and eVisa share code
- Marriage or civil partnership certificate, and any divorce documents
- 6 months of payslips with matching bank statements (Category A) or 12 months (Category B)
- Employer letter confirming salary, role and start date
- Self-employment evidence: tax returns, SA302s, accounts, business bank statements
- Cash savings statements covering 6 months
- English test certificate or English-taught degree evidence
- Tenancy agreement or proof of ownership, with property owner's consent
- Evidence of living together or regular contact
- TB test certificate if your country requires one
Use our spouse visa documents checklist to prepare.
Which spouse visa requirements do you test?
We test every requirement your evidence has to prove for the 2026 rules.
- Both partners aged 18 or over and have met in person
- Married, in a civil partnership, or living together for 2 years
- Combined gross income of £29,000, or qualifying cash savings
- English at A1 for the first visa, A2 for the extension
- Adequate accommodation without public funds
Full details: spouse visa requirements and financial requirements.
What mistakes do you find most often?
Most problems we find are in the financial evidence, and the Home Office rarely gives you a chance to fix them after submission.
- Payslips and bank statements that do not match
- Income from Category A and B mixed or averaged wrongly
- Savings not held for the full 6 months
- English test from an unapproved provider
- Relationship evidence too thin to show the relationship is genuine
How much does a spouse visa document check cost?
Our spouse visa document check is a fixed £600 + VAT. No VAT is charged if you live outside the UK and instruct us directly. You pay the Home Office fee and Immigration Health Surcharge separately to UKVI.
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Our document check | £600 + VAT |
| Home Office fee, outside UK | £2,064 |
| Home Office fee, FLR(M) inside UK | £1,407 |
| Immigration Health Surcharge, 33-month visa | £3,105 |

How does the spouse visa checking service work?
You complete the application yourself, a solicitor checks it, and you submit once every issue is fixed.
- Complete your online application on GOV.UK and save it as a draft, without paying or submitting.
- Book the application checking service online or call Wembley Solicitors on 020 3417 3700.
- Send us copies of your draft form, cover letter and supporting documents.
- A solicitor checks every answer and document against the Immigration Rules, including the £29,000 financial requirement.
- We go through the findings with you online, by phone or face to face, and explain how to fix each issue.
- Make the corrections, then submit on GOV.UK, pay the Home Office fee and Immigration Health Surcharge, and complete your identity check.
How long does a spouse visa document check take?
Most spouse visa document checks are completed within 1-3 working days of receiving all your documents.
- Standard: completed within 1-3 working days
- Same day: available depending on the complexity of your case, confirmed when you book
- One-off service, with no retainer or ongoing fees
When should I book a spouse visa document check?
Book your check 2-3 weeks before you plan to submit, so there is time to fix any issues we find before your evidence goes out of date.
- Your most recent payslip and bank statement must be dated no more than 28 days before you apply
- Missing documents, such as an employer letter or landlord consent, can take a week or more to obtain
- If you're extending in the UK, apply before your current visa expires
- A same-day appointment may be possible for urgent cases, depending on complexity
